I am reminded once again, “Be faithful, believing that this moment, this task of being the keeper of this home and tender of these hearts is my calling and is my form (a form, not solely) of temporary worship.” Am I choosing to magnify Him in the moment? Am I choosing to center myself on this task/ministry/calling and see it as opportunity for me to display my faithful heart or am I treating this task as a distraction? Am I giving Him and my charges the “firstfruits” or are they getting the stale, dry, sparse, bruised and battered leftovers of my devotion?
“We don’t like thoughtless love, food, passion or friendship…we like true love, wholesome food, pure passion and friendship that puts the other first…
What does our Lord and Master want from us…nothing less….”
Wow. I love (hate!) the visual image of “leftovers”. I do NOT want to offer leftovers to God. Despite my not wanting to, I wonder how often I do and am shamed and sorrowed to say that it is often. The wording in Sarah’s “Leftovers” post just made me feel like scales dropped from my eyes. I will be thinking and evaluating the plate of praise that I serve Him today, in my relationship with Him, and with those He has placed in my path to love and serve… that it won’t be cluttered by take out and leftovers, but that it will be a double portion, hand mixed and served up with the firstfruits of all my devotion.

Powerful!
I will be more aware of this myself as I go through the day.
"Am I choosing to center myself on this task/ministry/calling and see it as opportunity for me to display my faithful heart or am I treating this task as a distraction?"
A convicting reminder! Thank you.
Blessings, friend!
I went through a time of being overwhelmed and I feel like I am coming out of that sink hole...
this is exactly what I have been thinking about again...
I am realizing, once again, how much I do adore my calling as mother and home maker! I love it all the more when I am aware and present and bathed in the Spirit each minute, during every ordinary task, with a joyful and worship filled heart.
Time to start stomping my feet and singing a tune while doing dishes, dancing while I dust and praying to Jesus while I snuggle my babies!
This one hits me right straight in the heart. I found myself asking forgiveness for that very thing just the other day. How often do I say in so many words, "Not right now Lord. I'll be with You in a few minutes as soon as I finish...."
When I look at that clearly I am astonished at my foolish audacity.
I need to work on this with you.
Ouchie! I don't want to give Him leftovers.
Ever.
But, sometimes, I do.
But He deals with me so gently.
And loves on me anyway.
And then, I just want to give Him all of my love. Heart. Soul. Mind.
Because He loves me like that.
Got something for you. If you have time to stop by.
Sweet dreams.
oh Amen!!! Very good reminder :-) I will take it to heart.
sigh...my scales fall away again as well...isn't He wonderful...
preach it sister!
love you,
Sarah
So convicting. God has echoed this message in my heart, too. Thank you for your words.
Very beautiful and timely
A lot of years ago when my grown children were 4 year old twins and a 3 year old, I began to see them as the things that wedged themselves between me and my great potential! God opened my eyes in a powerful way one day and I repented and re-embraced the wonder of mothering for Him.
Thank you for passing on the leftover analogy
You've done a beautiful job of explaining my heart. (How did you get in there?) I'm sure God had nothing to do with it though -- NOT!!!
I just happened to stop by your blog today and was blessed. Thank you for your reminder.
