I found this poem by my daughter when I was cleaning up my desk. This is why I don't feel the need to force feed creative writing assignments to my kids, it's something they do of their own initiative and do so well. We have been talking about personification and I am happy to see her put it into great use here.
I love it when Spring comes,
And bees sing their diddly-dums.
When flowers bud,
And boots get stuck in the mud.
When Summer's on its way,
When Summer's on its way,
Trees are in bloom all day.
When boats come out,
And people fish for trout.
Fall creeps close,
And sticks out her nose.
Trees will change their gowns,
And leaves lay on the ground in all the towns.
Winter arrives,
So, no more fishing drives.
Snow sparkles on the ground,
Then all the world sleeps safe and sound.
