Okay, so I caved and the big tree went up in the little sitting room and the result was not nearly as intimidating as I had pictured. Yes, I crammed it way into the corner and smashed the back branches up but who will ever know?
The kids hung all the decorations themselves as high as they could reach and told me the meanings behind each set. They even made up a new meaning, the harps represent King David who was a shepherd king who reigned wisely (just happen to be reading about him in our devotions) and was a picture of Jesus, the shepherd of our hearts who will reign with peace and majesty over all nations. Wow. Cool.
As we worship Him and remember His first coming in this holiday season, may our hearts look forward with expectation to His second advent. Merry Christmas from our house to yours!
