Money, It's Kinda Funny (short and sweet).
This will be quick and painless after yesterday's mega post ;) and hopefully it will bring a smile to your face. A little background...
Since we found out we were expecting number five we have been discussing replacing our truck (two door Chevy extended cab) so that the whole family would fit in BOTH vehicles. There are not many options when you are looking for an 8 seater with cargo space, so a Suburban was pretty much the only option in our minds. We were seriously considering going down to the states to get one since the economy really favors that right now. Somehow though, neither of else felt full peace about pursuing anything and we let it slide. A week or so ago we had a serious conversation about how much we actually NEEDED two 8 passenger vehicles as most of the time we can go places together in the van, the issue is only when we want to pull something, then we can't go together in the truck and would have to take two vehicles. We were questioning wether that really made it a "need" or a luxury.
Anyway, neither of us knew, but day before yesterday I thought to myself, "we should just stop looking for a Suburban. If the time and situation is right something will come up without our even looking for it." At the same time Pietro was thinking the same thing but also that he should let go of his "year ideal" and be willing to buy an older one that was in good shape as that would save quite a bit of money.
Lo and behold, *last night* (literally the day after we said, *if* something flies out of the sky and hits us on the head) we get an email from old friends who know nothing about all this, they didn't even know we were expecting, wondering if we would be be interested in their suburban. They need to get a truck for work, and since they only have three kids, they don't really need it. The trade in was going to be a near give away on their part and they thought they would rather "give it away" to friends, than to a dealer. So they offered us their Suburban, which is everything and more we would have put on our wish list, for about half the price of what we were considering paying.
God, you are funny and amazing. Living with you is an adventure and a joy.
