Winsome Wednesday

Winsome- charming in a childlike or simple way-attractive - pleasing to the eye or mind especially through beauty or charm.

The Beauty of Books

So the new window still lacks framing, and the uncovered hardwood still wants re-finishing, this remains one of my favourite spots in this old house.

Books are not made for furniture, but there is nothing else that so beautifully furnishes a house. ~Henry Ward Beecher

When you sell a man a book you don't sell just twelve ounces of paper and ink and glue - you sell him a whole new life. Love and friendship and humour and ships at sea by night - there's all heaven and earth in a book, a real book. ~Christopher Morley

A good book should leave you... slightly exhausted at the end. You live several lives while reading it. ~William Styron

The love of learning, the sequestered nooks, And all the sweet serenity of books. ~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

A house without books is like a room without windows. ~Heinrich Mann

You have captured a real beautiful picture in this post. You children look positively dreamy. The fairy music you have playing helps the mood... I have always wanted a library in my home with books to the roof... it is such a blessing that you have this in your home.

Your Beatrix Potter post was what got me all "whimsical" about books and put this winsome wednesday idea in my head. Thanks for the inspiration!

Oh man! That is one fabulous room. I'm fighting off envy! And look at those engaged readers!

Found you via Ann Kroeker's blog, btw.
