Thankful 321 & Counting

Barely Thursday I mean, not barely thankful. Today I am EXCEEDINGLY thankful for little things that bring great joy.

321. for The Rugrat (2) who tried to go on the "big" potty without any help, then came to find me with a bare bottom and pants in hand informing me, "my ass-dint" mommy. My go pee, my ass-dint." Which translated means, he went pee, but by ACCIDENT missed the toilet. Call me twisted, but I took great joy in this.

322. for an adorable conversation with The Poppet (6), in which I praise her profusely for her insane intelligence. I tell her she can be ANYTHING in the world, that's how smart she is. What does she think she wants to be, anyway? A doctor? Her response? "Oh, I don't know. Maybe I'll just be a normal person like you... you are the smartest person in the whole world and you're not a doctor." Oh baby, do I love you to pieces or do I love you to pieces?

323. for the following comment from The Rugrat when I informed him to hurry and put his coat on because we had to take the baby to the Doctor for his shot. His eyes lit up like firecrackers and he exclaimed, 'Doctor have GUN Mommy? Let's go!' As in, if the doctor is going to shoot a gun, I for one, don't want to miss it....'

324. for all the wonderful encouragement and truth that was spoken to me here and in my "real life" journey this day.

325. for my husband, who is calm, and rational and steady and strong. always.

326. for my kids, who are truly amazing souls.

327. for the right and freedom to homeschool and the joy of learning.

328. for the beauty of a winter wonderland. A cold but beautiful wonderland.

329. for a crawling, clucking, babbling, sparkly eyed Punkin' who sleeps 13 hours at night and 4 hour stretches during the day. Bring it on.

330. for My Girl... my adorable, beautiful firstborn girl, who calmly informed me over my not quite panicked but quite perplexed, "I have no idea where the road is." (for all the snow).... "It's right in front of you Mommy." Let's hope so. Oh and thank you Lord for heavy duty Suburbans and four wheel drive, Amen.

It's been too long. I need this exercise in my life.

Thanks for the encouraging comments left to us. We are hoping for a fresh start with the new year, and your words were encouraging -- thanks, from one fellow pilgrim to another!

And where's your prairie? Looks beautiful!

Isn't it amazing when those "littlest" people in our lives are the biggest source of encouragment and joy in our lives??? And the simple wisdom that comes from their mouths!

Be blessed today!

PC, you and your kids are just simply some of my favorite people! How odd the internet is that we can feel like we "know" people that we've never met.
Thanks for sharing your family - they always make me laugh out loud.
I wanted to thank you for your transparency and honesty in your post yesterday, it was such a blessing. It is such a great reminder that, no matter where we are (living our dreams!! Amen!), we will always be tempted to discontentment; and, that we always have the power of God to overcome it! What a gift that we are blessed to be living out our calling and experiencing joy in it daily. You are SUCH an encouragement to us all in that!

PS - Just wondering, when you have school time, discussions, etc., what do you do with the toddler and baby? Trying to figure these things out....!! Thanks for letting us get to know you - it is a gift from the Giver of all good things!!

Boy can I remember those trying times of driving, not sure where the road is, and having little passengers in the car who are not at all. After all they are with you, and you are safety.

Love Ya, Dear

this post and your last made me reflect on the freedom and joy to homeschool...we would have missed out on things like my post before last...and many other such times that simply would not have been possible...

I really do need to get back to the thankful list I have'nt done one in a while, but yours was quite a blessing, as was the post yesterday, I have found that when days seem trying Praise the Lord, when days seem great Praise the Lord, In all ways, On all days(even when you don't feel like it) Praise the Lord, So when I get a little overwhelmed by the chaos of raising young'uns, or the weeds of discontentment starts to sprout,I Praise the Lord, for all the things I am thankful for and start listing all the truthful, pure, and lovely things that has graced my life.Phil.4:8 Your post blessed my life today, so sweet, and funny!

I loved reading about the little one and shooting hair elastics into the tree. How old is your baby now? He sure is a good sleeper.
