At The River

Scenes from our afternoon stroll on Thanksgiving day. A Feast for the eyes after a feast for the palate.

Shall we gather at the river where bright angel feet have trod;
With its crystal tide forever flowing by the throne of God?

On the margin of the river, washing up its silver spray,We will walk and worship ever, all the happy, golden day.

On the bosom of the river, where the Saviour-king we own, We shall walk, and sorrow never 'neath the glory of the throne.

Ere we reach the shining river, lay we every burden down; Grace our spirits will deliver, and provide a robe and crown.

At the smiling of the river, rippling with the Saviour's face,Saints, whom death will never sever, lift their songs of saving grace.

Soon we'll reach the shining river, soon our pilgrimage will cease,Soon our happy hearts will quiver with the melody of peace.

Yes, we'll gather at the river, the beautiful, the beautiful river --
Gather with the saints at the river
That flows by the throne of God. Robert Lowry

For a few minutes I was back in the little country church we were part of when we lived in Upstate NY. The pictures, the hymn - all transported me back. How we miss singing those precious songs.
Thank you for sharing your lovely day.

Oh to gather at the river with the saints of God, what a day that will be!! Thanks for sharing... how I wish I lived at least driving distance to where you are so I could go and bask in that beautiful scenery! And I would stop by for a visit with the grandest Prairie Chick I know :)

Blessings!

Another pretty walk. I have to be content with walking by the ditch a few streets over. I love country walks.
