Excuse me while I indulge in a little whimsical reminiscing of summer and pretend that there is not a north wind gusting at 45 km an hour, suffocating us in a thick veil of billowing snow with a temperature of 27 degrees below zero after the wind chill and a visibility of 0.4.
Lest I forget the beauty that will soon emerge from underneath this carpet and cape and umbrella of winter white, I conjure up visions of brighter days. The blues, the greens, the landscapes and scenes of creation awakening from hibernation.
All things bright
and beautiful
All creatures great
and small
All things wise and wonderful
The Lord God made them all
Each little flower that opens
Each little bird that sings
He made their glowing colors
He made their tiny wings
The tall trees in the greenwood
The meadows where we play
The rushes by the water
We gather every day
He gave us eyes to see them
And lips that we might tell
How great is God almighty
Who has made all things well!

Prairie Chick this is exactly what I was thinking today...trying to remember the spring, summer, and fall while the winds are gusting up a storm. Your pictures are beautiful.

Beautiful photos. My Granny died last Thursday, expected and even prayed for, still hard though. The next morning, amid snow (for weeks now in Ankara), I heard birds singing. Yes, she has gone to her Spring, her winter is over.
What beautiful pictures and soothing words. I hope you all have a great weekend. I will let you know when the package arrives. I have been able to work in the yard this past week due to much warmer days and have a few flowers popping up - I love this time of year.

It will be here before you know it, in the meantime you could get your home all spring cleaned and organized and then you will be able to enjoy the beautiful weather outdoors and not be stuck inside cleaning. Who invented spring cleaning anyway??
Beautiful!! We had snow this past Sunday, now today we are supposed to have a high of 73! It is beautiful and gorgeous, yet I have to take a child to the doctor, probably an ear infection...

I lived in the north long enough to know exactly how you are feeling. I can remember looking out the living room window at the starkness of bare limbs against a gray sky and the remnants of snow on the ground and just longing for warmth and growing things and spring.
I feel so blessed to live in this wonderful place where even winter treats us kindly most of the time and spring arrives long before we even expect it.

Thank you so much for this post. I am so ready to be done with brown and embrace the colors of spring but I think we still have 1.5 mos left of brown. At least we have blue skies.
