While the sea cucumber is equipped to spew its guts and confuse its predators, it finds its nemesis in the parasitic pearlfish which, given the chance, wriggles tail-first inside the sea cucumber through… um… a back chamber… and takes up residence WITHIN, feeding on those infamous intestines.
Once the pearlfish has consumed the intestines it makes itself right at home and is free to come and go at leisure until it decides to move on to sweeter pastures at which time the Sea Cucumber is free to re-grow its intestines and get on with the business of living.
Like Cleaner wrasse, some shrimp set up cleaning stations for fish. They wave their antennae to attract clients and work in pairs giving special attention to the teeth of their clients. Cleaner wrasse may clean up to 2,500 clients a day and shrimp have been known to clean the teeth of human divers.

Vampire squid escape from their enemies by turning themselves inside out. The undersides of their tentacles are covered in sharp spikes, creating a shield of razor sharp protection.
